I forgot to say…

Went to see The Great Gatsby last night. I’ll be honest, as much as I was looking forward to it I didn’t have as high expectations as I wish I had; mainly due to reading countless negative reviews on Baz Luhrmann’s inability to grasp the “true essence” of the story. What a bunch of bullshit, the film was so so good. Visually it was one of the best lookin’ films i’ve ever seen and Luhrmann’s emphasis of the novels motifs and symbols (i.e. the green light, doctor T.J.Eckleburg billboard etc) proves his capability to keep with the story. If like me, you were worried that the contempary soundtrack would spoil the authenticity of the film-stop worrying; the music doesn’t overpower the film at all and infact only short sections of the songs are played. Another thing I just wanna mention is how bloody brilliant Carey Mulligan was. I couldn’t see her as Daisy at all, as much as I like her as an actress I didn’t consider her ‘beautiful’ enough and didn’t believe she could embody Daisy’s shallowness and ditsyness. Obviously Leonardo Dicaprio was just as great as he normally is but less of the oscar talk please, his academy award is long overdue but this isn’t the film that should earn him it. With all this said, GO SEE IT.

The 1997 version of Jane Eyre is on ITV3 in approx 60 seconds. I like this version. I also still haven’t started studying for my challenging media exam on Tuesday. Why do things I like appear when I have things to do that I don’t like.

90% sure im failing my media exam on Tuesday.
If anyone is in the same boat, or you’re coping fine with studying for it…please acknowledge this post and tell me im gonna be okay/help me….WAAAAH
